"Time is a Major Factor in this work"_CEO, Opsiemandy Arts, Opeyemi Ademiluyi

*   Can we meet u?

I am Ademiluyi Opeyemi.  I am a law student of Adekunle Ajasin University,  Akungba Akoko. I was born and bred in Akure,  Ondo state.  I am a Graphite Artist,  CEO of Opsiemandy arts.

*   For u, is Drawing an hobby or a passion?

Drawing is both a passion and an hobby. It is an activity that is challenging and at the same time helps me relax. I also derive a lot of satisfaction from seeing my works.

*   What is Opsiemandy Arts all about and how did Opsiemandy Arts start?

Hmmm... I started drawing since I was very little... It was a kind of talent and I would make sketches and line drawings back then.  I also loved painting with crayons and water colors.  Then as i grew,  I started trying to shade and add life to my drawings, browse the internet for tips.  The major turn-around in this talent came when i was in 100 in school.  I met an Artist... Olajubu Babalola (Babs art), he took me under his wings and taught me all I needed to know to kickstart a career with this talent.  He showed me new instruments to use and he was a great force in driving me to Improve on myself so much.  I started Opsiemandy arts officially about 3 years ago and I bless the Lord for the progress made since then.  Opsiemandy arts deals with both customized portraits and general ones.  We have different sizes and designs of the portraits.

*   As a CEO, what would u expect from ur employees in Opsiemandy Arts now or in the future?

As at now,  I do not have employees... Although, I have an apprentice.  But what I would expect from future employees of Opsiemandy arts is dilligence and commitment.  I would love every one of them to aspire to be the best in the field because I personally believe in the saying that 'what is worth doing at all is worth doing well' . I am not a fan of mediocrity,  in everything a person engages in, he should aim for the peak.  Also, future employees of Opsiemandy arts must be very punctual.  Time is a major factor in this work.  At all cost, portraits should be ready at the time agreed so as not to lead to disappointment and therefore loss of customers and reputation.  Most people order for these portraits as birthday or anniversary gift and when the date it is needed is exceeded, the purpose of the whole gift is defeated.

*   What else do you do apart from Drawing?

Apart from drawing,  I am studying law... I am also a graduate of mass communication from Rufus giwa polytechnic, Owo.  Asides academics,  i can do a little bit of sewing and baking.

*   What perception about Drawing do you want to change in this modern day society dat we live in?

In Nigeria, a lot has to change about how people view Arts.  Nigerians' perception of Arts is very shallow (pardon my language but it's true). Most people just view Arts as a thing of decoration or for aesthetic value only but it is much more than that.  Arts communicate and express feelings and emotions which words can't... An Art work can have up to a hundred meanings... It's like a mirror into the deep recesses of one's heart.  In addition, the value attached to Arts in Nigeria is just too cheap. You see a situation whereby someone would actually expect to buy a painting for let's say #2000. This should not be so. We should learn to appreciate Art works more.

*   What is ur advice for fellow Artists?

My advice for fellow Artists is that, they should not be discouraged by the situation of things and the value attached to Arts in Nigeria. They should keep the flag flying... And aspire to be the best because like I mentioned earlier 'what is worth doing at all is worth doing well.

*   From your works, it is obvious that you major in the black and white drawing. Are you planning to add colours (like painting) to your work or u just want to be based on the pencil drawings?

Yes, for now, I only major in black and white drawings i.e Graphite Portraits. I intend to learn and expand my scope to other aspects of Arts like painting, sculpture and so on.

*   Where do you see yourself in the next five to ten years?

Hmmm... Opsiemandy Arts is such a big vision and the image I have of this little beginning in the next ten years is... Well... Some people might think it is too far fetched but this is my dream,  what I believe in and what I am working on. Opsiemandy Arts in the next ten years would be the largest Art company known in Nigeria and probably Africa. We are going to deal in all aspects of Arts, it would be an organization which specializes in all aspects of Arts... There would be a department each for painting, landscape drawings, graphite portraits,  sculpture,  photography and photograph enlargement... And every other thing one can think of relating to Arts. The company would have a delivery system within and outside NIgeria.  We would also have a training department which takes up aspiring artists and train them to be the best they can be.  Opsiemandy Arts would be the first thing to come to mind when the word 'Arts' is mentioned.  With God by my side, I believe this vision is achievable.
