 Music: High School by Doz

*     Can we meet you?

My name is Ogunlae Damilare Samuel popularly known as DOZ. I’m a graduate of the department of Guidance and Counselling, Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko, Ondo State (AAUA).

*     For you, is Music inbuilt or something you developed?

Music to me is inbuilt. Actually, my late father was a musician so I got my inspiration from him. I guess it’s in the blood.

*     How and When did you start as a Music Artiste?

If I can remember, I started singing at a very tender age. Then I used to sing songs written by my late father and songs by other artistes, but I started composing my own songs at the age of 8.

*     As a Music Artiste that is just coming up,how has it been so far and do you just sing during your leisure hours for pleasure or you intend becoming a full-time Musician now or in the nearest future?

Seriously I can’t lie, music is hard, when I was an undergraduate I thought it would be easy but now I think it is harder. But believing in God, things will be put in place soon. But despite how hard it is I won’t relent because I don’t do music for fun, it’s something I love. Definitely I am doing it as a full time job. And when I say full time, I mean music or nothing.

*     What else do you do apart from Music?

Apart from music, I definitely do other jobs to support the music in terms of promotion and marketing.

*     What perception about music generally do you want to change in this modern day society that we live in? And what innovations are you planning to bring into the Music industry?

To me, there is nothing to change in the music industry, but I just have to bring in my versatility, creativity and uniqueness in the music industry. Like I used to tell other colleagues that’s the best thing, because doing what others are doing won’t make you a legend, it can only make your music trend for a while, but your own style will have a long way to take you in the music industry.

*     What are the challenges you face as an upcoming Music Artiste that you think other upcoming artists might also be facing? And what is your advice for fellow upcoming Music Artistes?

The major challenge is Capital, that’s the key to limelight, because without that the talent is useless. In Nigeria now record labels are not helping, even rich people are scared to invest in young talented artistes. The only advice I can give to upcoming artists like me out there is to put their hopes in God and shouldn’t be discouraged, no matter how hard it is there will be a way out of the desert.

*     What Genre of Music do you sing? And how many singles and collaborations have you been able to pull through so far, that is, recorded,produced,promoted...

I sing R&B, POP, Afro Pop, Reggae, HipHop, and Classical. So far, I have recorded 10 personal songs, with 5 collaborations with other artists. Out of all I have only promoted one song online in 2016 which is titled "HIGH SCHOOL".

*     Where do you see yourself in the next five to ten years?

I see myself as a big Artiste in Nigeria and Africa in the next five years by Gods grace.

*     How does anyone who would like to listen to your songs download them (Although the download links for your songs is available for download above on this interview page); Then how would someone who wants to invite you for a show contact you? What are your Social Media handles like your Facebook page and Instagram ID, Twitter Handle?

For anyone who want to listen to my song, they can get it downloaded on any music platform. Like I said earlier I only dropped one song online but it can be downloaded via the link above. Moreover, people can reach me through the following for music business, events, shows, and musical concerts...
