My name is Ehindero Oyedamola. I am the CEO and head makeup artist of Damielle Artistry

*   For u, is makeup an hobby or a passion?

I'd say for me makeup is a little bit of both! My hobbies include drawing, painting and creating things and so my passion for makeup stems out of that! And I believe it is very important to enjoy doing whatever it is that you have a passion for. It's a very important factor in excelling in whatever career you're engaged in.

*   What is Damielle Artistry all about and how did Damielle Artistry start?

Damielle Artistry is a front where women are allowed to be themselves (however that is) and cut through the modern day standard of beauty! Society has created a standard for beauty. Though Damielle Artistry is a makeup company, we believe every woman is beautiful, no matter how she looks with or without makeup. We are here to help women look extra and feel confident whenever they choose to. It took me a long time to come up with a name that could fit my brand but sometime in June last year, I finally did. So Damielle Artistry is coined from my name "Damola" hence "Dami" and "Elle" which is a French word for "she" or when making reference to a "girl"😊.

*   As a CEO, what would u expect from ur employees in Damielle Artistry now or in the future?

What is important to me when I choose employees is passion and a constant thirst for wanting to know more and do better! You have to work on yourself and improve your skills within and outside of the company! Also, my employees must be very client inclined and approachable. The future and growth of any company is based on the employees relationships with the clients! My employees must be very deceptive and have great communication skills.

*   What else do you do apart from Makeup?

Like I said earlier, I paint and sketch although I am not a professional in that field. I bake and do all sorts of confectionery. I make jewelries,I enjoy cooking, decorating and a host of other things. I enjoy trying new things.

*   What perception about makeup do want to change in this modern day society that we live in?

This is a great question and I am very eager to say that a lot of people like to think that the fact that a Lady loves and wears makeup means that she's got a low self esteem or that she isn't beautiful! Some people go as far as to think that only slutty and worldly ladies wear makeup! And I am here to say that is pure myopic thinking! If you know me in person, you'd know I have a great skin and by many standards, I am a beautiful woman! But I wear makeup a lot as well, this doesn't mean that I dont feel comfortable in my own skin or that I have a low self esteem but to me, makeup is a form of expression! When I wear makeup, I am an artist! And my face and skin is my canvas and I have a blank canvas to create whatever I please. This world could be a very big and lonely place, but I have found my voice with makeup! A place where I can always express myself. So makeup is a great channel of expression to me! And I hope that many young ladies also find their voices in whatever career they choose.

*   What is ur advice for fellow Makeup artists?

The makeup industry is growing everyday, with lots of new emerging makeup artists and products. It is easy to get overwhelmed and feel that everybody is doing what you're doing. My advice to other makeup artists is this: "don't stop". It may seem that everyone is in the line of business but nobody is ever gonna do it like you! Your customers will come to you! Just be consistent and continue to work on your art and you will flourish! The sky is big enough for all of us.

*   From your works, it is not a hidden fact that you are versatile in the Makeup business, where do you see yourself in the next five to ten years?

Thank you so much. 10 years is a really long time, but hopefully Damielle Artistry will be more established with roots and a large employee base to also help young talented people(male or female), who have the passion and have also found their voice in expression through makeup. I'd love to have my own lash line and be one of the top makeup artists in the country.
