YOU NEED TO CHANGE

I met an old friend some weeks ago. In the course of our discussion, he voiced out that I had really changed a lot. Although, I wasn’t surprised at his comment about me but I was eager to know if it was a favourable or unfavourable change. So I asked, “In what way have I changed?” Then he said that I care about things lesser than I used to and that I give responses to questions and comments more carefully." The next thing I told him there and then was that, “If you must grow, you need to change”.
Change they say, is constant. That is, it is the only thing that does not change. Therefore, if you are sure you changed in the right way, don’t bother whenever people say you have changed because a positive change is a necessary ingredient to a major breakthrough.
You need to change if you care too much, you need to change if you don’t care at all, you need to change if you trust too easily, you need to change if you are a proud type. If you don’t have the slightest regard for anybody, you need to change, if you eat too much, you need to change, if you are self-centered, you need to change and finally, you really need to change if you have a low self-esteem.

ONLY YOU CAN HELP YOURSELF

Formerly, whenever I pray, I always include “God please send my helpers to me” but after some time, I realized that there is hardly any helper anywhere. It is every man for himself. I had to change that particular prayer point to “God please help me to help myself”. Have you ever wondered why those herbalists who perform money rituals for people are not even rich? It is because even a helper needs help. So why wait for a helper to help you? Push and push your way into prosperity until there is nothing to push again. A saying goes thus, “Until you lift your load above your knees, nobody will assist you in lifting it upon your head.” This means that even if someone will help you at the “long run”, you need to help yourself to “run”, not just “run” but embark on a “long run” because a short distance athlete can’t win a medal.

WHAT SATISFIES YOU MORE? - SPIRITUAL OR MOTIVATIONAL BOOKS?

This isn’t meant to be a spiritual write-up actually but a discussion I had with a friend of mine brought it up. On that fateful day, I saw him reading a financial book centered on how to make money. I playfully asked him why he was reading such a book instead of a spiritual book. He then said, “Everyone who chooses to read a particular kind of book has a particular satisfaction he/she derives from reading such a book. Therefore, the satisfaction I derive from reading financial books cannot be compared to that of a spiritual book”. On hearing this, I accused him of being less spiritual. Now my question to the general public is, can your level of spirituality be determined by how well you read spiritual books or better still, if someone doesn’t enjoy reading spiritual books compared to other kind of books, does that mean the person is not spiritual?
